There were no gardens more serene than the ones I saw in Kyoto. It was fascinating to observe how different parts of the world treat their gardens. In the West, I’ve often seen gardens decorated by brightly coloured flowers and elaborate layouts. However, the ones I experienced in Kyoto were laden with Zen principles that evoke peacefulness and balance. Even the birds and fish that inhabit these gardens appear to be one with their environment.
