After a 5-hr transit from Tokyo, Janice and I arrived in Kyoto exhausted and ready for a power nap…which, unfortunately, did not happen until after spending 30 minutes looking for our hostel. By the time we were done resting, the sun was setting giving us very little options of places to visit. Luckily our first choice, the Fushimi Inari shrine, was lit in the evening–one of the few shrines that were. It was also the only shrine we viewed at night time. I’m glad our circumstances forced us to witness it in its glowing brilliance with as few people around as possible.
